How to Set Up Roblox Parental Controls
Roblox’s parental controls run through a linked parent account, which gives you a dashboard over your child’s settings, spending and social features. Setting it up properly takes about ten minutes.
1. Link your parent account
In the child’s account settings, find parental controls and start the link. You verify yourself as an adult (ID or card check) and get your own parent dashboard tied to their account.
2. Set content maturity
Choose the highest experience rating the child can join. Ratings are set per-experience by Roblox, so this one setting filters the whole catalogue of games.
3. Control chat and social features
From the dashboard you can restrict who can chat with them, turn voice chat off, and control who can send friend requests or private-server invites.
4. Set spending and screen-time limits
Monthly spend caps with notifications, and daily screen-time limits, both live in the same dashboard. A spend cap is the single most argument-saving setting on this list.
5. Add a PIN
Lock the settings with a parent PIN so changes need your approval — otherwise a determined child can simply toggle things back.
Common questions
Settings locked behind the parent PIN cannot be changed from the child’s side. The realistic bypass is a second, secret account — which is a conversation, not a setting.
Under-13 accounts get stricter defaults automatically, and the birthday set at signup controls this — another reason to set it correctly.
