That matters more in horror than in any other category, because most of these are multiplayer — a brilliant horror game with forty players in it is a worse evening than a decent one with forty thousand, since you will spend the whole time waiting in an empty lobby.

What separates a good Roblox horror game from a bad one
The monster has to be beatable in principle. The best Roblox horror gives you a real counter — a hiding spot, a stamina bar, a door you can shut — so dying feels like your mistake rather than the game deciding. Games where the entity teleports onto you with no warning get big player counts on release and empty within weeks.
The second thing is whether the scares are load-bearing. A jumpscare is cheap and stops working the second time you see it, so the games that hold players are the ones where the tension comes from information you do not have: which door is safe, how much time is left, whether the person next to you is on your side. Check the like ratio column below — in horror it tracks this distinction closely, because jumpscare-only games get downvoted hard once the surprise is gone.
What to play first
If you have never played Roblox horror, start with a round-based multiplayer one near the top of this list rather than a single-player atmospheric game. Rounds are short, you learn the map by dying repeatedly at no cost, and there are other people to follow. Save the slow, quiet, story-driven ones for after you know what the genre feels like, because their pacing only lands once the jumpscares have stopped startling you.
If you are playing with friends, filter for the games with the highest player counts — those are the ones with enough people to fill a lobby at any hour, and almost all of them let you queue as a group.
How this ranking is put together
Every game here comes from our own Roblox catalogue, which refreshes several times a day. A game qualifies as a horror game on keyword signals from its name and description plus Roblox’s own genre label where that label is actually meaningful — it is not, for most modern games, which is why we do not rely on it alone.
The order is live concurrent players, highest first. We also drop anything whose like ratio has fallen below 50% where Roblox gives us vote counts, because a game people are actively downvoting does not belong on a “best” list however busy it is. Like ratio is shown per game where it is available; Roblox does not publish vote counts for every experience, so some rows show players and visits only.

What is the scariest Roblox game?
There is no single answer, because the two things people mean by "scary" pull in opposite directions. If you mean the most intense, it is one of the chase games at the top of this list — the ones with the highest live player counts, where something actively hunts you. If you mean the most genuinely unsettling, it is usually a much quieter game with far fewer players, built on atmosphere rather than a monster. Try one of each before you decide.
Are Roblox horror games safe for younger players?
It depends heavily on the game. Roblox age-rates experiences itself, and horror games span everything from cartoon spookiness to sustained tension with loud jumpscares. The chase games are generally fine for most players; the atmospheric ones lean darker. Roblox account settings let a parent restrict which age ratings an account can open, and that is a more reliable filter than any list.
Can you play Roblox horror games alone?
