“Most popular” is two different questions wearing the same coat. One is about endurance — what has been played the most, ever — and the answer barely changes from one year to the next, because it is a decade of accumulated joins and nothing overtakes that quickly. The other is about right now, and it can be rearranged completely by a single update or a video that happens to land. Both are on this page, ranked separately, because collapsing them into one list is how most Roblox lists end up misleading.
The first ranking uses total visits, which is Roblox’s own lifetime counter for how many times anyone has entered an experience. It is the closest thing the platform has to a permanent record. The numbers are genuinely enormous — the games at the top of this list have been entered more times than most countries have people, several times over — and they are dominated by games that launched years ago and never stopped.
The second ranking, further down, is concurrent players at this moment. That is the list to read if you want to know what to play tonight, because a game’s visit count tells you nothing about whether there is anybody in it today.

Why the all-time list looks nothing like the live one
Visits accumulate and never decay, so the ranking above is heavily biased toward age. A game that launched in 2016 and has held a steady audience since will sit above a game from last year that is currently three times busier, and it will keep that position for years. This is not a flaw in the measure — it is what “of all time” means — but it does mean the list is a history of Roblox rather than a guide to it.
It also explains the genre skew. Roleplay and social games dominate lifetime visits because they are the ones people re-enter daily for years, each join adding to the counter. A brilliant story game that everybody played once accumulates a fraction of the visits of a mediocre hangout game people idle in every afternoon. If you are choosing what to play, read the like ratio alongside the visit count.
The clearest illustration is the games below: all of them are in the top 25 by live players right now, and none of them are in the top 25 by lifetime visits. These are the games currently earning their place rather than coasting on one.

What the top 50 is actually made of
Running our genre classifier over the fifty games above gives a much clearer picture of Roblox than the list itself does. A game can count in more than one row — an anime tower defense game is genuinely both — so these do not sum to fifty. What the shape shows is which kinds of game are capable of accumulating billions of entries, and it is not the kinds most “best of” lists lead with.

The pattern is consistent every time we run it: the categories that dominate lifetime visits are the ones you re-enter rather than the ones you finish. Roleplay and social games sit at the top because a player joins them daily for years, and every one of those joins is a visit. Genres built around completion — story games above all — barely register here no matter how well made they are, because a game you play through once and put down can only ever collect one visit per player.
That is worth holding on to when you read any “most popular” list, including this one. It is a ranking of stickiness, not of quality, and the two come apart constantly. The genre pages are where you find the games that are exceptional at what they do rather than exceptional at being returned to.

How to read these numbers
Visits is a lifetime count of entries. It rewards games that people come back to daily and it is essentially impossible to game, but it tells you nothing about the present. Treat a high visit count as evidence that something worked for a long time, not that it works today.
Players is a snapshot of concurrency taken when this page last regenerated. It is the most volatile number here and the most useful one for deciding what to load, particularly in multiplayer genres where an empty lobby means no game at all. It also swings by time of day, so a game near the bottom of the live list in the morning may be much higher in the evening.
Like ratio is upvotes as a share of all votes. It is the only number on this page that measures whether people were glad they played, and it is the one most lists omit entirely. Roblox does not publish vote counts for every experience, so rows without a percentage are missing the data rather than scoring zero. We exclude anything that has fallen below 50% from these rankings.
Reading the three together is the point. A game with billions of visits, a healthy live population and a 95% like ratio is genuinely great. A game with billions of visits, a small live population and a 60% ratio is a game that used to be great, and the list above contains several of those.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most popular Roblox game of all time?
By lifetime visits — the measure that actually answers "of all time" — it is the game at the top of the first list on this page. The ordering is generated from Roblox visit counts rather than from reputation, and because visits only ever accumulate, this list changes far more slowly than the live ranking further down.
What is the most played Roblox game right now?
That is a different question with a different answer, which is why there are two lists on this page. The second one ranks by concurrent players at this moment, and a game can dominate it for a fortnight after a big update without ever troubling the all-time visits ranking.
What counts as a visit on Roblox?
One player entering the experience. It is not unique players and it is not playtime — the same person joining a game every day for a year adds 365 visits. That makes it a fair measure of sustained popularity over years, and a poor measure of how many different people have played something.
Why do some games have billions of visits?
Because the counter never resets and the biggest games have been running for a decade with millions of daily joins. A game that has held even a modest daily audience since 2016 accumulates an enormous total. This is also why visits favour old games: a brilliant game released last year cannot mathematically compete with a decade of accumulation.
Is a game with more visits better?
Not necessarily, and the two lists on this page are the argument for that. Visits measure endurance, live players measure current relevance, and the like ratio measures whether people who played it were glad they did. A game can score highly on any one of those and poorly on the others. Reading all three together is much more informative than ranking on any single one.
How often does this list change?
The visit-ranked list barely moves month to month, because it takes an enormous amount of accumulated play to overtake a game above you. The live ranking underneath it moves constantly, and both refresh from Roblox several times a day.
Are the most popular Roblox games good for beginners?
Generally yes, and for a specific reason: a game with millions of daily joins cannot afford to be confusing in its first five minutes, so the biggest games all have unusually good onboarding. They are also where the other players are, which matters in almost every genre.
Do the most popular games have codes?
Many of the biggest ones do, since codes are how developers reward their communities for updates and milestones. Any game on these lists with working codes carries a Codes link on its row, and we check them against the game’s own published list.
Why does this list differ from the Roblox front page charts?
The Roblox charts are personalised, promotional and heavily weighted toward what Roblox wants to surface right now. These lists are drawn from our own catalogue with a fixed, stated method — lifetime visits for one, concurrent players for the other — and no editorial or commercial thumb on the scale.
