An obby — obstacle course — is the oldest format on Roblox and still one of the busiest. The idea has not changed since 2008: get from the start to the end across a course designed to kill you. What has changed is how far the format has been pushed, from thirty-second beginner courses aimed at brand-new accounts up to difficulty-chart towers that a strong player will spend weeks on.
The list below covers obbies, parkour games and tower climbs together, because they play the same way even when they are marketed differently. It is ranked by live player count, so the courses at the top are the ones with an active community and, usually, working leaderboards.

What makes an obby worth your time
Checkpoint design is the whole genre. A good obby puts checkpoints where the difficulty steps up, so a failed jump costs you one attempt at that jump. A bad one spaces them out to inflate playtime, so a single mistake replays four minutes you have already proved you can do. That is the difference between hard and tedious, and it is almost the only thing that separates the obbies people finish from the ones they quit.
The other tell is whether the obby sells you the ability to skip it. Courses built around a paid "skip stage" button are designed to be frustrating, because frustration is the product. The ones with strong like ratios below are generally the ones where the challenge is the point and any purchases are cosmetic.
Where to start
If you are new, avoid anything with "difficulty chart" or a tower name in it for now and pick one of the big general obbies near the top of the list. They are built to teach the movement — the tight jumps, the moving platforms, the timing on disappearing blocks — and they are forgiving about it.
Once you can clear those without thinking, the towers are where the genre actually lives. They are unforgiving by design, they usually have no checkpoints at all, and finishing one is a genuine achievement that the community treats as such.
How this ranking is put together
Every game here comes from our own Roblox catalogue, which refreshes several times a day. A game qualifies as a obby on keyword signals from its name and description plus Roblox’s own genre label where that label is actually meaningful — it is not, for most modern games, which is why we do not rely on it alone.
The order is live concurrent players, highest first. We also drop anything whose like ratio has fallen below 50% where Roblox gives us vote counts, because a game people are actively downvoting does not belong on a “best” list however busy it is. Like ratio is shown per game where it is available; Roblox does not publish vote counts for every experience, so some rows show players and visits only.

What does obby mean in Roblox?
It is short for "obstacle course". An obby is any game where the core activity is getting from a start point to an end point across jumps, moving platforms, disappearing blocks and traps. It is the oldest game format on the platform and still one of the most played.
What is the hardest Roblox obby?
By community consensus it is one of the difficulty-chart towers rather than any standalone obby — these are ranked on a shared community scale that runs well past what most players can complete, and the top entries are cleared by a very small number of people. Standalone obbies, even famously hard ones, sit well below the top of that chart.
Are obbies good for beginners?
They are the best possible starting point on Roblox. There is nothing to learn beyond moving and jumping, the failure state costs you seconds, and the skills transfer — the movement in an obby is the same movement you will use in almost every other Roblox game.
Do obbies have codes?
Many of the larger ones do, usually giving coins or cosmetic trails rather than anything that helps you climb. Any game on this list with working codes has a Codes link on its row.
Why do some obbies have very low like ratios?
Usually because they sell stage skips. An obby monetised through a "skip this stage" button has a direct incentive to make individual stages unfair rather than hard, and players downvote that reliably. Checking the ratio before you start is a decent filter.
What is a difficulty chart obby?
A game built as a series of towers rated against a shared community difficulty scale, so that "Effortless" through to the extreme end means roughly the same thing across every game that uses the chart. It lets you find a challenge at exactly your level, and it is why the tower games have such a dedicated following.
