Why Is Roblox Not Working? (Troubleshooting)
When Roblox stops working the first question is whose problem it is — Roblox’s or yours. Answer that in half a minute, then fix accordingly.
1. Check for an outage first
Visit Roblox’s status page or search recent posts about Roblox being down. If thousands of players are reporting the same thing, it is an outage — stop troubleshooting and wait it out.
2. Restart the app and device
Not an outage? Fully close Roblox (system tray on PC), restart the device, and try again. This clears more problems than any other single step.
3. Check your connection and firewall
Test another site or game. If your internet is fine, make sure a firewall, antivirus or VPN is not blocking Roblox — VPNs cause a large share of mystery failures.
4. Update, clear cache, reinstall
In that order. An outdated client throws error 280, a corrupted cache breaks loading, and a reinstall rebuilds everything. Your account and items live on the server and survive all of it.
5. Decode the error number
If Roblox gives you an error code, it tells you the exact problem — look it up in our error code guides for the targeted fix.
Common questions
That game’s servers may be down or broken. Try another game to confirm, and check the game’s social pages for maintenance news.
A bad partial update corrupts the install. Uninstall and reinstall fresh — it takes minutes and fixes it almost every time.
