The fighting game is where Roblox’s combat design is at its most serious. The dominant sub-genre — the "battlegrounds" format — gives every player a small moveset with real startup frames, cooldowns and counters, and drops everyone into a shared arena. It is closer to a traditional fighting game than anything else on the platform, and the skill ceiling is genuinely high.

What makes a Roblox fighting game good
Whether every move has an answer. Good Roblox combat is built on a rock-paper-scissors underneath — a block that beats an attack, a grab that beats the block, an attack that beats the grab — so losing is legible and you can see what you should have pressed. Games without that layer come down to whoever bought the strongest move, and they empty out as soon as the community works out what that is.
Then there is server-side latency, which is the genre’s quiet killer. Combat needs hits to register when they look like they land, and Roblox networking makes that hard. The games that stay near the top of this list have all put serious work into it, and it is the most common complaint behind a low like ratio on games that otherwise look well designed.
Where to start
Begin with a battlegrounds game and pick one character to learn rather than sampling all of them. The movesets are small by design and the depth comes from knowing the timings, so twenty minutes with one character teaches you more than two hours of switching.
Expect to lose for a while. This is the least forgiving genre on the platform for new players, because you are matched against people who have been playing the same moveset for months. The high player counts are the good news here — they mean there are enough beginners around to be matched with.
How this ranking is put together
Every game here comes from our own Roblox catalogue, which refreshes several times a day. A game qualifies as a fighting game on keyword signals from its name and description plus Roblox’s own genre label where that label is actually meaningful — it is not, for most modern games, which is why we do not rely on it alone.
The order is live concurrent players, highest first. We also drop anything whose like ratio has fallen below 50% where Roblox gives us vote counts, because a game people are actively downvoting does not belong on a “best” list however busy it is. Like ratio is shown per game where it is available; Roblox does not publish vote counts for every experience, so some rows show players and visits only.

Are Roblox fighting games pay-to-win?
Some are and some very much are not. The most respected ones sell only cosmetics and emotes, keeping every character reachable in-game. Games that sell power directly get downvoted quickly, so the like ratio column is a reasonable proxy.
Can you play these with a controller?
Roblox supports controllers and many fighting games map to them sensibly, but the competitive player base is overwhelmingly on keyboard and mouse. Ability activation on numbered keys is faster than a controller’s face buttons, which matters at higher levels.
What is the difference between fighting and FPS here?

Do fighting games have codes?
